Erik Harvey is the Head of WaterAid’s Programme Support Unit, based in London, providing programme thought leadership, programme guidance and quality assurance. Erik is a water and sanitation development specialist with over 22 years’ experience, from project level through to strategic planning and monitoring. He has been with WaterAid for over 15 years, seven of which in senior positions in Mozambique and since then in the UK. He has supported work in countries across Africa and South Asia as well as China. Before joining WaterAid, Erik was engaged by DFID in South Africa, supporting the newly decentralised local government structures in developing appropriate models for sustainable water and sanitation services provision. Prior to this he headed one a national NGOs provincial WASH programmes. Erik has an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, however his greatest passion is for decent and sustainable sanitation systems.
