James is responsible for the arrangements that are in place to protect network customers, particularly those seeking a new connection to the distribution network. James led Ofgem’s work in the recent ‘RIIO’ price controls for both electricity and gas distribution in developing and implementing a framework of measures that will improve the service provided to customers seeking a new connection, particularly distributed generation.
This includes sharpening the incentives on customer satisfaction and new measures designed to speed up the process, engage more effectively with customers and deploy ‘smart’ network solutions to help ease network capacity constraints. James is also overseeing Ofgem’s involvement in the joint project it is conducting with Government on enabling the transition to a ‘Smart, Flexible Energy System’.
