Dr Nick Mills is the head of wastewater innovation at Thames Water. He and his team are redefining the future of wastewater so that the industry can exploit and manage its abundant resources more effectively, while continuing to provide a sustainable service to customers and the environment.
His background is in sustainable energy and sludge innovation. He has been a fundamental driving force in developments in thermal hydrolysis and he has delivered a number of large scale demonstrations of new technology. He has an EngD and an industrial fellowship from the Royal Commission of 1851 for his project: ‘unlocking the full energy potential of sewage sludge’. He sits on the management board for the anaerobic digestion network.
He is also the instigator of the annual SludgeTech conference which this July teams up with the IWA to hold the International Sludge Management Conference in London.
