Doug Cook
Doug is Ofgem’s Deputy Director for Digitalisation and Decentralisation. Doug’s team has a broad remit across two of the major trends changing our sector.
Before joining Ofgem, Doug spent 15 years in a variety of roles across the energy industry. These included 3 years as an executive of a software company, responsible for distributed energy and demand response projects in the UK, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Prior to that, Doug spent 4 years as a strategy consultant in the Middle East and Australia, focusing specifically on emerging technologies and data platforms in power and utility businesses. He worked for a period alongside the CEO of one of the UK’s biggest energy retailers. Doug spent time as an energy attaché for the UK Foreign Office and started his career as a policy advisor in the UK’s Department of Energy and Climate Change. He holds degrees in Economics, International Affairs and Renewable Energy Engineering.
