Roger is an Emeritus Professor in the School of Engineering at Lancaster University. In December 2015, during Storm Desmond, the city of Lancaster lost power for several days. This had knock-on effects on many different sectors – communications, retail, banking, road traffic, railways, water supply, schools, healthcare, security, … … His report into this lack of resilience was published by the Royal Academy of Engineering and can be downloaded here:
