•Abidemi Olowogbemi is a Smart Metering Innovation Programme Manager within the UK Government Department for Energy Security & Net Zero.• Abi currently leads the smart metering systems-based internet of things programmes seeking to support and innovate the smart metering infrastructure for a more robust, more flexible and interoperable system.• This smart metering innovation projects also support governments £65m Flexibility Innovation Programme, part of the UK Government’s £1bn Net Zero Innovation Portfolio which is providing funding for low-carbon technologies and systems.• Abi’s experience spans across programme and project delivery, business management, policy and corporate governance gained across government. •Abi has also worked on various projects and programmes across the civil service delivering on government objectives, and manifesto commitments.
