Gaby is a senior research fellow in environmental engineering at Cranfield University. Her work is primarily on nature based solutions for wastewater treatment, with an emphasis on understanding pollutant cycling within these complex ecosystems to enable engineering them for multiple benefits. She has worked on industrial and domestic wastewater treatment technologies in developing and developed countries, in academia as well as industry. The latter included a five-year secondment to Severn Trent’s wastewater R&D team where she contributed to understanding greenhouse gas emissions from sewage treatment and technology scanning for small rural works. She is the elected Chair of the Constructed Wetland Association and has served on the management committee International Water Association Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control since 2012.
