I lead the Energy Systems and Data group at the University of Birmingham, which works with public and proprietary datasets to provide insights into energy systems transitions to a net-zero economy. Recent highlights include the publication of Primary substation service areas for the GB electrical system for all DNO areas (https://zenodo.org/doi/10.5281/zenodo.8335353); working with operational gas boiler data to understand after diversity effects of space heating and hot-water; and the use of machine learning to unearth value from legacy datasets within the energy sector.
