CRC Evans wins second contract on crucial Moroccan water pipeline project
CRC Evans Secures Contract Renewal for Major Water Pipeline in Morocco
CRC Evans (CRCE), a leader in welding, welding technology, and coating services, has secured a major contract renewal to provide project management and pipeline welding services for a significant water pipeline project in Morocco.
State-owned OCP Group is building a 219-km pipeline to transport desalinated water from Jorf Lasfar on the Atlantic coast to its operations in Khouribga. The initiative aims to alleviate Morocco’s water shortage.
This is CRCE’s second contract on the project, following successful completion of the first phase in 2024, during which it collaborated with local contractors to complete 4,000 welds on a 72km stretch of 52” diameter pipe.
The next phase, beginning in May, involves welding 150km of steel pipeline using 56” and 40” diameter pipes and approximately 12,000 welds. CRCE will deploy its full range of equipment, including its internal welding machine and P-625 dual torch external welding system. It will also provide manual tie-in welding and supply specialist welding technicians.
“We’re pleased to secure a new contract on the back of the work completed so far. It confirms our client’s confidence in us on a project that will bring huge benefits to the local population. Water shortage is a major issue in Morocco, and this pipeline will deliver desalinated water for fertilizer production, agriculture, and industrial community projects, easing pressure on local water sources,” said Henk DeGraaf, Onshore Director, CRC Evans.
Steven Mackay, Director of Renewables & Infrastructure, CRC Evans, added, “Our world-leading coatings and welding expertise—including advanced technology like our internal welding equipment with its high productivity—is vital to this and future water projects.”
CRCE, known for its global expertise across sectors including oil and gas, is expanding into new markets with a renewables and infrastructure division. This includes welding and coating services for water and gas pipelines, positioning CRCE for opportunities under the UK’s AMP 8 framework, which will run through 2030.
CRC Evans will exhibit at Utility Week Live, May 20–21, Birmingham, UK.
