Evenproduct’s Storm Overflow Solution for Severn Trent

Severn Trent launched a programme to reduce stormwater overflows and improve river health across its network. With 2,472 storm overflows, the utility needed a scalable, rapid, and sustainable solution to meet challenges caused by climate change, urbanisation, and growing water demand.

To deliver this, Severn Trent partnered with Evenproducts, a UK-based expert in water storage. They deployed over 300 auxiliary steel tanks across more than 200 locations. Dramatically increasing stormwater storage capacity and reducing overflow incidents.

“Our experience in the global humanitarian sector enabled us to meet Severn Trent’s ambitious goals, delivering to remote sites rapidly and efficiently,” said Oliver Mathew, Managing Director at Evenproducts. “We’re proud to support their environmental goals with reliable solutions, even in the most complex locations.”

Manufactured using Tata Steel’s Magizinc® alloy, the tanks were designed for long-term durability and environmental resilience. Evenproducts worked closely with Severn Trent to adapt each system to site-specific requirements, customising outlet positions, drainage components, and flow compatibility to ensure seamless integration.

“Evenproducts’ communication, organisation, flexibility and speed enabled Severn Trent to quickly and efficiently deploy solutions across our sites,” said Tiphanie Marriott, Senior Commercial Manager at Severn Trent.

Despite tight timeframes and challenging terrain, and remote unmanned sites, the rollout was delivered efficiently. Evenproducts provided in-depth training to contractors and maintained close oversight during the initial phases of installation to ensure consistent standards and safe delivery.

Mike Haydon, River Health Capital Design Lead at Severn Trent, added: “From the very start Evenproducts proved themselves in terms of product innovation and quality. Their flexibility and technical support were key to delivering our programme. I definitely consider them a partner, not just a supplier.”

“Avove have successfully installed over 140 auxiliary tanks on the Severn Trent spills programme,” said Carl Hobbs, Project Lead at Avove. “This was made possible not only by being supplied with a great quality product, but also by the professional and collaborative approach from Evenproducts and their technical experts.”

This project delivered clear environmental benefits and shows how water utilities can meet growing challenges with fast, scalable, and effective solutions.
