Chris has worked in the electricity distribution industry for 20 years, starting as an apprentice for SPEN in 2004. Since then, Chris has held various operational and managerial roles within the company. His last role was Head of Delivery (faults, maintenance & capital investment) which involved reacting to network faults, whilst proactively improving the network through delivery of capital programmes (such as asset replacement, overhead line modernisation & cable modernisation). Chris's current role is Head of Innovation, where he oversees the delivery of a portfolio of innovation projects under the Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) and Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF).
The energy landscape is changing fast as the way people generate, use, and interact with energy evolves. Chris has a keen interest in how digital technologies can improve the operability & reliability of the distribution network to facilitate a smooth transition to the goal of clean power 2030.
