Sharon Palmer

Sharon has spent more than 30 years working in environmental policy, regulation and sustainability — a career shaped by a longstanding commitment to protecting the environment and helping organisations respond to complex challenges. She began in waste regulation with the Environment Agency and, over the next 20 years, built broad experience across environmental permitting, climate adaptation, water, flood risk, and regional strategy and planning.

In 2014, she joined Tarmac as National Environment Manager. Alongside leading regulatory compliance, she took responsibility for the company’s legacy waste and contaminated sites, helping to manage environmental risks and guide their remediation.

Sharon moved to utilities contractor The Clancy Group in 2022 as Head of Environment & Sustainability, before joining Severn Trent Water in late 2025 as Group Sustainability Lead. In her current role, she brings together her experience and passion for sustainability to help shape the Group’s strategic approach, with a particular focus on climate action, nature and the circular economy.
