Encroachment Monitoring

Satelytics support the change to condition / risk - based Vegetation Management operations. Specifically, Satelytics are able to support the move from Schedule Based
Monitoring to Condition Based Monitoring - whilst also reducing our carbon footprint. High-priority trees for trimming or removal are spread across our networks, waiting to be discovered. Satelytics identify and even forecast where trees are likely to increase our exposure to risk of damage and outage. Field
crews can significantly reduce inspections as Satelytics produce alerts on individual trees, with specific coordinates, tree speciation and health to facilitate location by field crews. To support our move to risk-based vegetation
management, after handling high-priority trees, we can shift our focus to trees posing lower risk and even to those outside of the electric corridor — trees that are still tall enough to fall on power lines if weakened by disease or storms.
Following trimming Satelytics can check that work over our entire asset area (that we
have paid for) has been carried out.
Enabling Change
Satelytics use high resolution satellite imagery that is processed through their AI based Algorithms to provide us with our requested alerts. Alerts include exact coordinates, threat types, & threat levels specific to your requirements – allowing you to streamline your tree trimming activities. Additionally alerts include tree speciation and tree health which can also impact on risk based prioritisation. This will assist us with operational efficiency as we can trim trees / remediate other issues that have been identified as high risk, the move on to medium risk and finally low risk.
When / Where – we determine which of our assets are to be monitored and how often we
require them to be monitored, our risk based alerts are provided within hours
of capture.
As Vegetation Management monitoring is just one of the areas of specialisation for Satelytics, the same data can also help our challenges around encroachment, land movement, and change from land to water. Our philosophy is to analyse a single set of
data as many ways as possible to assist with multiple challenges (we have 40+ algorithms, some examples are given above).
