NEW High Current Compact ROV Launched

Failures in subsea cables and underwater assets interrupt power flows, reduce network resilience, and increase operational risk for UK utilities. These sites involve strong currents, poor visibility, and tight access. Smaller observation ROVs lose position and miss key data.

Spectis Robotics supports these sectors with subsea ROVs, crawlers, and camera systems for inspection across offshore, nearshore, and confined spaces. The SPECTRA ROV supports utility operators that need stable positioning, accurate navigation, and reliable data.

SPECTRA’s propulsion system delivers steady control in demanding water. The vehicle holds position in currents up to 3 knots from any direction. Forward speed exceeds 4 knots. A seven thruster layout provides fast lateral movement that improves control around cables, joints, and seabed structures. This reduces data loss in turbulence and shortens inspection runs.

Spatial awareness remains a barrier during cable route surveys, burial checks, and structural assessments. SPECTRA uses real time 3D Sonar SLAM to produce continuous point clouds while tracking its position in GNSS denied areas. Operators view asset geometry during the run and verify coverage before leaving site. This reduces the risk of incomplete data that forces expensive offshore returns.

For detailed assessment, SPECTRA includes a calibrated 4K stereo camera that produces scaled 3D models without markers. This supports inspection of cable protection systems, seabed interfaces, outfalls, harbour structures, and other critical utility assets. A 300,000 lumen lighting system aligned with the camera improves clarity in poor visibility.

Operational performance improves through onboard processing that removes reliance on topside hardware. A modular build allows thrusters, sensors, cameras, and power units to be swapped in under 30 minutes. This helps teams stay productive during short weather windows and tight vessel schedules.

For security roles such as harbour protection and pre dive checks, SPECTRA offers stable manoeuvring, strong payload options, and consistent positioning in dynamic water. For subsea cable inspection, SPECTRA supports repeatable lines, improved defect detection, and consistent reporting.

Through high thrust ROVs, crawler systems, and advanced imaging tools, Spectis Robotics supports controlled inspection across the subsea environments that UK utilities rely on.
