VisNet Forecast

EA Technology Stand: H2

VisNet Forecast is a network planning and investment forecasting tool that enables electricity network operators to prepare for future demand with confidence. It provides forward-looking insight into how low carbon technologies, such as electric vehicles, heat pumps, solar PV, and battery storage, will impact low- and medium-voltage networks over time.

Using advanced modelling, VisNet Forecast analyses entire networks to identify where and when constraints are likely to occur. It allows users to explore multiple demand and uptake scenarios, helping them understand the potential impact of different future pathways. By combining this with an automated solution engine, the tool recommends the most cost-effective interventions, whether through traditional reinforcement, smart solutions, or flexibility.

This “what breaks when” approach supports evidence-based planning, enabling network operators to prioritise investment, optimise asset utilisation, and manage increasing connection volumes more efficiently. It also provides clear, defensible outputs that support regulatory submissions and long-term strategic planning.

Delivered as a scalable, web-based application, VisNet Forecast integrates with existing data sources and planning processes, making it suitable for both ongoing business-as-usual planning and more detailed scenario analysis.

Ultimately, it helps network operators move from reactive upgrades to proactive, data-driven decision-making, ensuring networks are ready to support the energy transition.
