Harshil Sumaria is a Strategy Manager within the Distribution System Operator (DSO) at UK Power Networks, where he works at the intersection of forecasting, energy flexibility, and long-term network strategy. His role focuses on ensuring the electricity distribution network is ready for a rapidly decarbonising future, while remaining efficient, affordable, and inclusive for consumers. Harshil has played a pivotal role in shaping some of the DSO’s most transformative capabilities, most notably through the development of the Strategic Forecasting System (SFS). This cloud-based scenario planning platform underpins all major investment decisions, enabling advanced bottom-up modelling of future customers, technologies, and flexibility needs across the network.
