Jodie Giles
Programme director - strategic innovation fund,
Ofgem
Jodie is deputy director of the Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund, at Innovate UK, supporting energy networks and their partners to develop and deploy transformational ideas to accelerate the transition to net zero, on a large scale and at the lowest cost to people who use and pay for our energy networks. She leads the team overseeing £450m of innovation funding to ensure the portfolio of almost 300 projects delivers the necessary impact on climate change and our society.
Jodie has been working on energy system decarbonisation for 15 years. As Head of Innovation on Innovate’s £100m Prospering from the Energy Revolution challenge, she’s supported industry, networks, local authorities and researchers to deliver smart local energy systems, and maximise value as we move to net zero. Jodie has deep technical knowledge of our energy system including policy and regulation, network innovation, flexibility, and regional planning for net zero. Prior to working at Innovate UK she developed and led Regen’s community and local energy programme for a decade.
In her spare time Jodie spends as much time as possible outdoors, teaches and makes pottery, and has just completed a Churchill Fellowship on reducing the carbon impacts of kiln firing.
