A civil engineer by profession, Kate has worked within the built environment sector for nearly 30 years, starting as a site engineer in the North East of England. At CITB, she carried out a range of roles including managing the Women and Work: Sector Pathways Initiative across England which informed the development of the Fairness, Inclusion and Respect programme, now delivered by Supply Chain Sustainability School. After joining Constructing Excellence North East in 2017, Kate wrote OneVoice, the North East England Construction Strategy, 2020-2025 and the associated Action Plan before moving to the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2023 as regional director for the North East and Yorkshire and Humber regions. Kate joined the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, Policy Team in 2025 as Civil Engineering Manager with responsibility for the water and energy sectors, environmental sustainability and health, safety, and wellbeing.
