UK Power Networks
Lynne McDonald is the Head of Local Net Zero at UK Power Networks’ Distribution System Operator (DSO) and a senior manager in UK Power Networks. Lynne drives collaboration with 133 Local Authorities, gas utilities, and local actors to support local growth and decarbonisation. She has been instrumental in integrating Local Authority data into UK Power Networks' forecasts, shaping network investments.
Under Lynne's leadership, the Local Net Zero team won the Energy Institute’s 2024 International Energy Award for Engagement, recognising their collaboration with local authorities. She also oversees the DSO customer service programme, with UK Power Networks’ DSO ranked UK No.1 in 2024. A champion of data and digital innovation, Lynne led the launch of new self-serve tools to accelerate decarbonisation, including ChargePoint Navigator, which won the 2024 Transport + Energy Award for Best Collaboration in advancing public EV charging infrastructure.
Lynne also serves as the Wider Call Handling (WCH) Site Lead for the overflow call centre at UK Power Networks headquarters.
In her previous roles, Lynne set the strategic direction for the Low Voltage (LV) Visibility programme, taking it from initial concept to business implementation. She built strong stakeholder relationships and applied robustness, scalability, and best practices to roll out LV monitors, delivering 100% (5,834 sites) of the Ofgem ED1 commitment by March 2023. Lynne also led the cross-directorate PAKNET programme, successfully upgrading approximately 16,000 sites to modern digital communications technology over two years.
