Grid Ex

GridEx is a new community of practice accelerating the digitalisation of Europe’s transmission and distribution networks. Through a programme of research, insight and events, GridEx surfaces and shares best practice in digitalisation and facilitates collaboration and information exchange between TSOs, DSOs and their partners and stakeholders. 

GridEx is anchored by the Digitalisation Maturity Index, a unique body of research that assesses every European nation against eight dimensions of digitalisation, providing a score that allows an overall comparison of each nation’s progress. The Digitalisation Maturity Index will be published in five regional chapters from autumn 2026 onwards. The Digitalisation Maturity Index is independently authored by energy expert Roger Hey of Smart GB, in association with GridEx. 

GridEx’s dedicated editorial team produces content including analysis of policy, regulation and technology news and trends; interviews with sector leaders; case studies of digitalisation; the latest innovations; and comment and opinion from industry leaders. The content is free to view and is shared with GridEx’s audience via our social channels and a weekly email. 

GridEx hosts an annual series of regional roundtables, where TSOs and DSOs are invited to share their insights, challenges and opportunities in a confidential setting.

GridEx’s annual programme of research, content and events culminates in GridEx Europe, a two day conference bringing together 500+ network digitalisation leaders for two days of thought leadership, problem-solving and inspiration.
